The Activity Report 2006
This is a summary of the implementation of the portfolio of work in 2006 to provide brief information on the different activities undertaken by the Institute last year.During 2006 we were very pleased to be able to organise a joint seminar with the European Investment Bank: “ European Universities in Search of Excellence ” . Work on the development of access, pathways and quality in qualification systems continued with the European Training Foundation and their partners in the MEDA countries, taking a specific focus on building local partnerships of key stakeholders. In partnership with the Institute for Educational Research of the University of Jyväskylä ( Finland ), w e started work on a contribution to Cedefop's 4 th Research Report. The theme is improving the attractiveness of vocational education and training and is closely linked to the current EU policy and priorities of the Lisbon Strategy. The EIESP continued its work with Universal Education Foundation contributing to the design and piloting of the first Voice of Children surveys.
The presentation of the portfolio is organised under the following headings:
2006 was also a year of great sadness for the Institute as Peter de Rooij, a member of the Conseil d'administration, died suddenly in August 2006 following a heart operation. He became a member of the Institute and was elected to the Conseil d'administration after his retirement from the European Training Foundation in 2004. The relationship between Peter and the EIESP went back quite a way as staff and friends of the Institute had known him since the early days of ETF. He was a much appreciated colleague with whom we all greatly enjoyed working. He brought to the Conseil d'administration a lot of enthusiasm, energy and many ideas for the future.
