Vocational education and training in the New Independent States and Mongolia: Key indicators: 1995-1999. (July to November 2002)

Type of project/activity:
Comparative statistical analysis.

Objectives:
The report aimed to provide a compendium of statistical data covering the 1995-1999 period and a trans-national analytical review of these data.

Background:
The New Independent States and Mongolia have initiated substantial political and economic changes in recent years. New labour market conditions in these countries call for appropriate reform in the sphere of vocational education and training. An adequate information support is a prerequisite for the development and monitoring of sound education and training reforms and policies. In the mid-90s, the European Training Foundation (ETF) launched a project to identify and collect the most relevant Key Indicators in the field of vocational education and the labour market in transition countries. Data has been collected in the NIS and Mongolia since 1998 and are collected from national information sources by the National Observatories, set up by the ETF in each country. The first analytical report on Key Indicators was published in 2000 and the second phase resulted in an unpublished interim report based on the 1998 data.

Partners:
European training Foundation, the EIESP, the National Observatories in the NIS and Mongolia and the Centre for Science Research and Statistics in the Russian Federation.

Main Activities:
The comparative analysis was carried out by ETF and the EIESP based on the data collected by the National Observatories and collated by the Centre for Science Research and Statistics in the Russian Federation.

Name of programme, funder or client:
